About Bizzy Bee Schools in Sarasota
We are a group of Florida Play-Based preschools in Sarasota. We care for children from 2 to 5 years and provide a range of age-appropriate resources and activities to encourage their development right up until they are ready to join school.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is based on learning, curiosity and creativity. By blending indoor and outdoor classrooms and environments in a home-away-from-home environment, we are able to create a space where children feel empowered and ready to learn.
Who We Are
Bizzy Bee Schools got its start in Sarasota in 2000 by Caroline Fisher, and a second Sarasota setting was established in 2012. We decided to do things a bit differently at Bizzy Bee Schools by creating spaces which foster early learning in a fun and safe environment, where children from 2 to 5 years can explore the world around them.
We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery, as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.We value the importance of play and believe that outdoor, hands-on learning in nature is best.

Our setting includes:
Surrounding landscapes of tranquil greenery- we are situated on an acre of land, and surrounded by nature
A play-based learning approach, which focuses on hands-on, intuitive learning.
Outdoor learning and play areas which contain a mud kitchen, sandbox, bike track, butterfly garden and climbing equipment.
Mixed-age rooms, which increase social and emotional development, preparing your little one for kindergarten and building their confidence amongst their peers.
We are able to offer a wide variety of activities, including outdoor play, music, dance and more.
At Bizzy Bee Schools, we believe that every child deserves to have access to the best education. It is important to us that children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. We want to create a supportive, stimulating, and fun environment for children to nurture their love of learning.
The Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK) offers free tuition to all 4 and 5-year-olds. The aim is to prepare children for kindergarten, no matter their background or home situation. The VPK program provides children with a firm foundation to begin their educational journey and sets them up for future success.
The VPK program helps build a strong foundation for school using educational material corresponding to various stages in a child’s development. We focus on developing core Literacy and Math skills alongside science, arts and interpersonal skills.
Juniors (2 - 3 years)
Our vibrant and nurturing Junior's room is specially designed to cater to the unique needs of children aged 2-4 years. At Bizzy Bee Schools, we believe that early childhood education sets the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Our carefully crafted environment fosters curiosity, exploration, and development in every child.
As you step into our juniors classroom, you will be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that is both safe and stimulating. Our selection of toys and materials is not only fun but also promotes cognitive, social, and physical development. From puzzles and blocks, to dress-up clothes and role-play, we provide a diverse range of resources that encourage problem-solving, communication, and imaginative play.
With experienced teachers and a focus on individualized attention, we create a safe, secure environment where children can flourish.
VPK and Rising 5’s
(4 - 5 years)
Our engaging Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten room is designed specifically for 4 to 5-year-olds, preparing them for the transition to kindergarten. At Bizzy Bee Schools, we understand the importance of creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and a love for learning.
Our VPK classroom is thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration, independence, and social interaction. It offers a spacious layout with designated areas for various activities, allowing children to engage in different learning experiences throughout the day.
We believe in learning through experience and provide hands-on activities to engage children. Our curriculum encourages exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving. Through engaging projects, experiments, and collaborative group activities, we cultivate critical thinking skills, creativity, and a sense of discovery.
We prioritize social and emotional development, providing opportunities for children to build relationships, collaborate, and express themselves. Our preschool room incorporates activities that promote empathy, self-regulation, and conflict-resolution skills, fostering a positive and inclusive learning community.
Outdoor Learning and Play
At Bizzy Bee Schools, we strongly believe in the power of hands-on experiences and the benefits of connecting with nature. We have created a vibrant and stimulating outdoor environment that combines education with the joys of outdoor play. Through our carefully designed outdoor space, children can learn, explore, and have fun while developing a lifelong love for outdoor play and education.
One of the key features of our outdoor space is the outdoor classroom. Here, children can gather for group activities, storytelling, and engaging lessons. The open-air setting allows them to connect with nature while they learn, fostering curiosity and exploration.
Our outdoor facilities also include a mud kitchen, the desert (sandbox), a bike track, a butterfly garden and climbing equipment. All of these areas are designed to promote various areas of development, such as gross and fine motor skills, social skills, balance and coordination, and independence and confidence.
By developing our programs with curriculum experts and child care specialists, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes early education a success and created a learning program that allows our children to enter school seamlessly.
We understand that each child is unique and develops at their own pace. That's why our teachers provide individualized attention in small class sizes, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where children can flourish. They observe and assess each child's progress, tailoring activities and experiences to meet their evolving needs and interests.
